GON' GET HITCHED
You know the story…he got down on one knee, popped THE question, and I said yes. Except, this isn’t just your typical engagement story because it’s MY engagement story and it couldn’t have been any more perfect! So, here goes…
This alllllll started way back in January when Mike attempted to ask my parents their permission, but apparently my dad just wasn’t ever really around. Attempt number two over Super Bowl weekend (while I was down in Atlanta) was a success, Mike made my mom his famous buffalo chicken dip, and so began two and a half months of secret planning, ring shopping, and incognito texting/snapchat messaging with all my best friends.
Fast forward to April 20th, 2019. Mike has decided to spend Easter weekend with my family (hint #1). My very best friend, Emily, has flown home from Portland, Maine and we are meeting up to get our nails done (hint #2). I just so happen to have a hair appointment (hint #3). And, we have plans to meet up at Longwood Gardens with a mix of best friends (hint #4).
3:15PM. We embark to Longwood Gardens and at this point I’m pretty sure Mike is (pardon my French) shitting his pants. I can probably count on one hand how many times I’ve seen this kid on edge and boy, oh boy was he on edge (hint #5). SO CUTE!
If you’re from the area, you know the Longwood drill…beautiful flowers, amazing fountains, and a cool new beer garden all make for a classic Chester County outing. After a few hours, we had gone through and done much of what there is to do at Longwood when Mike pointed out that we had yet to get a picture together. Truth and I’m a sucker for a good shot for the gram.
We walk over for a photo, literally every single one of our friends takes out their phones (hint #6 I THINK THIS IS REALLY ABOUT TO HAPPEN), and we strike a nervous smiley pose. Mike thinks we should get one without our sunnies and then IT HAPPENS! He gets down on one knee and asks me to marry him!
And, if this ring doesn’t say off the market, I don’t know what does!
